Will there be a way to confirm certificates that we add to our profile?

I understand this is very difficult, as there is an immense volume of different certificates and organizations providing them, but nonetheless it would be a great addition to the site. Otherwise, the certificate system is somewhat redundant.

I couldn't agree more, this is very important, trust-wise. I would also like to link my last post in the Welcome topic to this one : Click to read

We will most definitely need some measure of trust certification, and official certificates, however difficult they may be to implement, would be a very strong plus.

Some of the first feedback we got regarding the certificates was to add a picture upload functionality to each certificates - that would make it a little harder to fake a certificate (though no impossible). Its on the todo-list.

Having said that, the certificates should work in conjunction with the feedback score to create greater trust.

At this time we are not looking into authenticating certificates because of the difficulties as you also mention :)
